I Made Over $2,000 Last Month In My Free Time
It was my day job that helped me get there.
I was very happy with my first month of freelancing. I went all-in on Fiverr and Upwork. I created gigs and submitted proposals. I said yes to every special order and invitation to apply.
And it worked just the way it was supposed to. I got a lot of work. Four weeks into taking this seriously, I now have 6 regular clients.
But, the reason I was able to land the work was because of my day job and the day jobs that I’ve had for the last two decades (eek! I’m getting old.)
I know there’s an attitude of damn the man, don’t stay in a job you don’t love in the world today. There’s something to be said for that.
But there’s also something to be said for sticking around and sticking to a single line of work and really learning how to do it.
My side gig is (mostly) writing. I write for financial companies which is great because I’ve spent the last 20 years working in the finance industry.
I know how to explain complex concepts to a variety of audiences. People respond to that. It’s landed me gig after gig and I’m already raising my prices because I don’t have as much time available as I thought I was going to.
It feels good to be busy.
But it feels good to be able to write knowledgeably on topics without needing a ton of extra research. I fact-check a few items and riff on the rest.
I’m on track to double my earnings in February despite the shorter month. I’m excited.
